Session 1 - Beyond Legislation — Can Europe Rebuild Its Mining Industry?
28 October 2026 / 09:15 - 11:00 | Barbican Suite 2

Attracting investment, building support

Northern Ireland made a substantial investment in the Tellus project early in this century to drive development of a mining sector. Dalradian took up the challenge in 2009, and through substantial North American funding advanced an early-stage gold project from exploration to permitting. If approved, this will be a transformative project and attract additional investment to the region, while building centres of excellence around engineering and environmental management. Projects in Ireland and the UK demonstrate the increased public support and investment that come with a lived experience of modern mining.
