Ciaran McCreanor leads stakeholder relations for Dalradian, the company advancing the Curraghinalt gold, silver and copper project in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Based in the Sperrins region, he works closely with local communities, government, and industry partners on issues spanning community engagement, planning, employment, and environmental management around the project. A long-standing voice in Ireland's minerals sector, Ciaran has represented Dalradian at forums including the IMQS/Irish Association for Economic Geology Conference and industry visits to the Curraghinalt site, and regularly speaks on responsible development, local benefit-sharing, and the future of mining in Northern Ireland.
Mining the all-island opportunity
Since 2009, the Curraghinalt project has been transformed from a small gold resource to one of the world’s best undeveloped gold projects. The resource has grown 10-fold and additional discoveries have been made on Dalradian’s licence areas. Unlocking the strong growth potential is dependent on permitting the project – a timely, positive decision will certainly bring substantial new investment to the region for exploration. Dalradian’s project is a generational, all-island opportunity, with many suppliers from the south having already contributed to the project and ~20% of the workforce from Ireland. If approved, the future mine will create 1,000 jobs and a supply chain of £1.3 billion. The project is an excellent fit with Tyrone’s world-renowned expertise in engineering and material handling.
