Eoin McGrath is a Principal Geologist at Geological Survey Ireland. Over the course of his career he has worked extensively across government, academia and in the private exploration sector. He joined the Survey in 2018 to lead the minerals programme with a focus on critical raw materials. He is the chair of EuroGeoSurvey’s National Exploration Programme sub-group and works closely with European partners and the Commission on CRM related topics.
Priming the Pump for Exploration
Geological Surveys across Europe are the primary data repositories for base data, maps and information on a jurisdictions geology and prospectivity. With the current challenges facing Europe's long term strategic supply of raw materials, it is no longer sufficient to just be a data provider. This talk will explore how Geological Survey Ireland is supporting early stage exploration investment in Ireland and what lessons can be learned and applied across Europe to revitalise the bloc's exploration sector.
